Pookode Lake is a beautiful freshwater lake near Vythiri in Wayanad, Kerala. Surrounded by evergreen forests and the Western Ghats, the lake is famous for its natural beauty and its shape, which resembles the map of India. It lies about 770 metres above sea level.
Visitors can enjoy boating, walking around the lake, visiting the freshwater aquarium and children's park, and shopping for local handicrafts and spices. The lake is also home to the rare fish species Pethia pookodensis, found only in this lake.
